 Hatha
Yoga is a form of yoga which gives first attention to the
physical body. The word Hatha is composed of the syllables Ha
and Tha, which mean sun and moon. Yoga means "union". The
physical body is the vehicle of the soul's activity and
existence. In order to obtain purity of the mind, one must
purify the body. Hatha Yoga utilizes the practice of physical
poses known as "Asanas" and "Pranayama" (breath control) to
assist the practitioner in obtaining self-control over the mind.
Hatha Yoga assist the mind in becoming one pointed and allows
quick progression in concentration, meditation, and ultimate
oneness with Brahman (God, The Absolute). There are
many great Hatha Yoga teachers and institutes throughout the

written by Swami Vishnudevananda. This book not only explains
the intricacies of Hatha Yoga, it gives detailed instructions
