Subject: Say a Prayer

Hello,

My 25 yr old sister Kristy has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. What I'd like to start here is an email group for thoughts, prayers, whatever, because I believe it really does help.

This has been going on for about 6 months now, and I've been mostly quiet about because not a whole lot has been happening. I didn't see any use in positive thoughts / prayers while she's sitting on her sofa at home waiting for things to begin.

Today she begins her Chemo therapy, this weekend my little brother will begin giving himself shots three times a day to inflame his bones in preparation for a bone marrow transplant.

An insurance fiasco has kept things from moving quicker, and although at this time it's really not known if she has insurance any more the doctors and U of M say we must start treatment immediately because the cancer is spreading fast.

Yesterday she was admitted into the ward and they performed surgery to "tap" into body. Now they can administer drugs and take blood from her without touching her skin.

Right now I'd like your prayers and thoughts to go towards her comfort, since no healing is going on. The chemo is going to destroy her immune system and give her all of those horrible side affects you may have seen in movies or from a loved one of your own. Right now she's going to need help with the pain, once my brother gives the transplant we focus on the healing.

So toast a drink, say a prayer, draw a picture, tell a joke, everything is a valid way to contribute.

Thanks everyone in advance.

Thanks again,

Rob
